Some Dorty facts,

Music is a subjective topic when it is about how which and when people want to listen to it.It creates worldwide connections by being among in outlines of art with its diverse structure. What about the fundamental keys of music, is it still subjective? The notes! We label each tone and sound according to musical notes and obviously, there is a logic related to deep a mathematical knowledge behind each musical system. It is commonly accepted that in musical notes, sounds consist of main notes and almost every community makes their classifications on music according to these basic notes.

Sound of music is a reflection of cultural evolution and each society has its own perspectives on sounds. It is globally accepted that the keynotes are done, re, mi, fa, sol, la, si with the same sequence in different tones( labelling of notes can be different in foreign languages). Western music claims that music contains basic notes that are mentioned above and the half notes of keynotes which they named as flats or diesis. Flats and diesis are in between keynotes, diesis means half note further from the keynote and flat means half note back from the keynote. Therefore in proper note sequence flat of the keynote is same as diesis of the previous keynote. For instance, diesis of note” do” is the same with a flat of note “re”.   In Eastern music, they have the mentioned seven basic note too. However different than Western music, Eastern music has nine different microtones in between keynotes which they call as ‘Koma’ ( interval between mi-fa notes and do-si notes have less than nine microtones because of having half note interval  ).

Due to the difference between tones in between main tones, there is a huge debate among Western and Eastern musicians throughout the history which musical structure is better. It’s an endless conflict but I will not dwell on this issue. The crucial point is that if eastern music claims that there are nine microtones in between full note intervals there might be hundreds, thousands or even infinitely many of them.

I am playing the oud for over three years and the only difference between us and guitar other than their shape is that oud does not have frets, its like fretless guitar and while I am playing it I can move along my finger all the way on strings of oud and the tone of the sound changes instantly. Moreover, the frequency of change in notes increases as my finger approaches to the end of the string on oud.

-Yeah, this is how does works. Bunch of information, maybe discussions and subjective. The video in the Dortes page of this site does not have audio and it is the only video with this feature. I do not claim anything artistic about the fact, the truth is I share the text as a date because these writings of mine above are related to an investigation of mine, the video does not have audio because the way it is formatted is not appropriate for many editing programs, and last but not least I need to have a bunch of more writing in my side to please google. So I think you kind of get the point, some of you find the little issue funny some of you don’t and most of you couldn’t come this far on reading the texts above. That’s Dortes.-
